About CommonHours

Ancient practices made accessible. No matter where you are in your journey.

Our Story

CommonHours was created out of a longing that many of us share — a desire to slow down, reconnect with the sacred, and discover spiritual practices that actually work in real life.

Whether you grew up in church, left and came back, or are still figuring out what you believe — you're welcome here. We believe that contemplative practices like meditation, lectio divina, and daily scripture reflection aren't reserved for monks or theologians. They belong to everyone.

What We're About

We're not here to tell you what to think. We're here to help you create space — space to breathe, to listen, and to encounter something deeper than the noise of everyday life.

CommonHours offers guided meditations, daily readings, and resources rooted in the Christian contemplative tradition. But we draw from the richness of the whole church — from the Desert Fathers to the Wesleys, from Celtic spirituality to modern contemplatives like Richard Rohr and Ruth Haley Barton.

Everyone Has a Seat at This Table

You might be someone deconstructing or reconstructing your faith. A lifelong Christian or a curious agnostic. A post-evangelical searching for a gentler, deeper way. Whatever your story, these practices are for you.

We believe the Spirit meets us where we are — not where someone says we should be.

Why Contemplative Practice?

For centuries, Christians across every tradition have used meditation) prayer, and reflective reading to draw closer to God. These aren't new trends — they're ancient pathways that have sustained the faithful through every season of doubt and devotion.

Modern research backs what the mystics always knew: regular contemplative practice reduces anxiety, deepens compassion, and creates a sense of groundedness that carries into every part of your life.

Meet the Founder

Todd Barsalou

Todd is a visual storyteller, spiritual mentor, and the founder of both CommonHours and Sacred Arts Group. His work bridges the gap between creative expression and spiritual formation.

With a heart for making sacred things accessible, Todd created CommonHours to share the contemplative practices that have shaped his own journey — not as a guru, but as a fellow traveler who believes these ancient tools can help anyone find more peace, purpose, and presence in their daily life.
